The pursuit of speed has its sacrifices.
We’re not sure we agree with this type of thing but who are we to judge. Although this isn’t really practical for a nice trip to the coast for a good weekend of camping.
Ken Prather’s 1962 Volkswagen Bus, which features a mid-engine 355 small-block and a 7-inch chop job, took 4 years to complete. Ken said “The first thing I did was chop the top, then I pulled the motor. And you know how it escalates once you start on something.”
Tasteful performance modifications include a fuel cell, a drag parachute, and a throttle pedal made out of a spoon from the kitchen of his understanding wife.
